Wright & Brown Bottled in Bond Single Malt Whiskey
Wright & Brown Distilling Co.'s newest product release is a Bottled-in-Bond American Single Malt Whiskey! It is made from a mashbill of 100% non-GMO malted barley grown in California, Washington and Ireland. W&B mill, mash, ferment, distill, barrel-age and bottle on site in Oakland. This particular release stands out as their oldest whiskey to date, having been barrel aged for the last 4 and a half years.
Bottled-in-Bond is a highly sought after designation. It must be made by the same distiller, in the same distilling season, aged more than 4 years in oak barrels in a federally bonded warehouse and bottled at 100 proof (50% alcohol by volume.) It is a designation that speaks to true artisanal quality, purity and vintage. W&B distilled their inaugural batch in 2015, soon after opening for production. Since then it has been resting and maturing in 53 gallon charred oak casks.
Like all their whiskies, it was made with a 250 gallon Vendome all-copper pot still. It is rich and malty with notes of dark chocolate and toasted coconut with a sweet caramel finish. At 100 proof, it has a nice level of heat and a long, lingering finish.
This Single Malt is a true rarity. Of all the American whiskies out there, it is only the second ever Bottled-in-Bond American Single Malt,
